Public opinion’s conceptions of EU citizenship
The relation between the process of Europeanization and public opinion support for the EU is conceptualized and measured, in particular in connection with the main dimensions of EU citizenship: European identity, sense of EU representation, scope of governance. Experiences of deliberative democracy at the EU level are also discussed (Dr. PhD Francesco Olmastroni).
Learning outcomes include:
- Role of information and deliberation on people’s attitudes towards the EU and the EU policy-making process.
- Ability to increase knowledge on controversial issues when empirical data are available.
- Awareness about complexity in the conceptualization of EU citizenship and its relations to political representation and democratic governance.
