Attention is devoted to public opinion’s reactions to the economic crisis and evolving attitudes towards the EU. The focus will be on EU increasing responsibility for economic policy, without proper accountability mechanisms typical of domestic institutions. A comparison between democratic accountability in nation states and the supranational EU polity will be carried out (Prof. Paolo Bellucci).
